Students of the University of Newcastle’s Natural History Illustration degree program present Precious, a collection of works showcasing the diversity and beauty of our Australian fauna with an emphasis on both its significance and vulnerability.
Many of the student works on display at Willoughby Council in conjunction with this year’s Fauna Fair, were featured in the cohort’s Extinct and Endangered exhibition at Maitland Regional Art Gallery in 2016. Others were produced by 3rd year students in 2016 as part of the course, which is the only one of its kind in Australia.
Natural History Illustration sits comfortably within the realms of art, science and the environment. Responsible and meticulous attention to detail is nurtured through traditional and modern techniques as well as collaboration with experts in their respective fields.
