Discover the exciting impact that technology has had on the genre of abstract art in Future Abstract at Art Space on The Concourse.

Since 2010, there has been a resurgence of abstraction within contemporary art. Though it is not yet fully understood what has driven this renewed global artistic focus, it is seen to be as significant as the previous avant-garde eras of abstraction.

Visit Future Abstract to find out how abstraction will continue to revive itself again and again in the future. The exhibition explores how technology is already impacting and redirecting abstraction’s traditional expressions within the disciplines of painting and sculpture. Experience new abstract artworks created using modern technologies. Learn how in this new evolution of the genre artists are moving beyond the canvas to explore how line, tone, colour, shape, movement, pattern and texture can impact the space beyond the ‘object’, using new materialities, kinetic movement and the fourth dimension.

Future Abstract presents artworks by an impressive collection of Australian artists including: Louise Allerton, Tom Loveday, Wade Marynowsky, Gordon Monro, Adi O’Hara, Naomi Oliver, Grant Stewart, tranSTURM (Chris Bowman, Holger Deuter, Rachael Priddel and Rachel Walls) and Susannah Williams.
