Getting to Chatswood

Public Transport

The Chatswood Interchange has both trains and buses travelling in and out of Chatswood, and is the best place to start your Vivid Sydney at Chatswood experience.

Make sure you have an Opal card for quick access. Use the Trip Planner to plan your visit.

By Train: The T1 North Shore and Northern Line has regular services to the City and Hornsby via Macquarie University.  Services run at regular intervals until after midnight, including Sundays.

Sydney MetroSydney Metro services start operating from Sunday 26 May on the North West Line between Tallawong and Chatswood Stations. Metro services are high-frequency, driverless trains that start running from the early morning until late.

Using the Sydney Metro:

  • To get to Vivid Sydney at Chatswood stay on the Metro to Chatswood Station for direct access to the precinct.
  • Last services from Chatswood to Tallawong leave at 12.45am on Thursday nights and at 1.45am on Friday and Saturday nights.
  • On Sunday to Wednesday nights from 26 May until late 2019, North West Night Bus, a late night bus services, will run as Sydney Metro grows to full operations. The first North West Night Bus service departs Tallawong at 9.25pm and Chatswood at 10.10pm. All-stops route and limited stops routes will run every 10 minutes to Tallawong.
  • Station Link bus services that have been running between Epping and Chatswood while the rail line was upgraded will stop operating on Sunday 26 May after Metro services begin.
  • You can use your Opal card or accepted contactless payment method on Sydney Metro services. You will need to use your Opal card on North West Night Bus services.

By Bus: Due to road closures, the bus stop on Victoria Avenue at The Concourse will temporarily relocate to Archer Street from 7pm on Thursdays and Fridays and 5pm Saturdays, and the long weekend Sunday (9 June).

Taxi: Taxi ranks can be found on the corner of Victoria Avenue and Railway Street, on the western side of Chatswood Interchange. For details of taxi networks servicing the Sydney area, visit NSW Taxis.

Parking and Road Closures

Parking: If travelling by car, the best places to park are Chatswood Chase SydneyWestfield ChatswoodThe Concourse and Albert Avenue car parks. Traffic may be heavy so allow plenty of extra travel time.

Road Closures between Friday 24 May to Saturday 15 June: The below roads will be closed from 6.30pm to 10.30pm on Thursday and Friday nights and from 5pm to 10.30pm Saturday nights and Sunday (9 June) night of the long weekend:

  • Victoria Avenue between Anderson St and Archer St.
  • Anderson St between Endeavour St and Albert Ave.
  • Anderson St between Help St and Ferguson Ln (southbound lanes only).
  • Spring St (between Cul-de-sac and Spring Place).
  • Mills Lane (north of Archer St).

Note: the Chatswood Westfield Myer carpark entry on Anderson St will not be accessible during the closure periods. Access the Westfield carpark via Albert Ave or Victor St instead.

Parking Restrictions: Special event clearways are strict no parking zones and will be in effect on a number of roads in Chatswood from 3pm to 10:30pm each Thursday, Friday and Saturday night (plus Sunday 9 June) during Vivid Sydney. Check signs before parking as vehicles left in clearways will be towed and a fee applies. If your vehicle is towed, call the Traffic Information Line on 132 701 to find its new location.
