This Media For Millennials workshop is designed to teach you digital and social media skills that would be beneficial in a creative career. The goal is to give you the experience of a day in the life of a content creator. You can work individually, in pairs or in small groups where you’ll receive a professional brief from a client to advertise a product of their choosing.
Introduction
You will be introduced to genuine job opportunities within the social media and content creation industry. You will gain a better understanding of the industry by being shown examples of successful social media campaigns including digital content I have personally created for the Cancer Council’s Daffodil Day and Snowy Mountains Tourism Board.
We will then breakdown the components of what makes an eye catching campaign by looking at elements like:
- Brand authenticity
- Colour
- Structure
- Video features like Boomerang, Hyperlapse and Slow Motion
- How to write succinct and engaging captions/posts
- How to Hashtag effectively.
Social Media Campaign:
You will choose items from home to create a social media campaign on and will then have to create:
- 1 Facebook Post
- 1 Instagram Post
- 1 Instagram Story
- 1 Tweet.
Please note: these posts are not published on any public platform and we don’t need access to Facebook or Instagram as part of the workshop.

Media For Millennials encourages young people to create and carve out their own opportunities. We will finish by discussing some ideas, strategies and ways they could approach and pitch themselves to the right types of businesses or brands, who might be interested in having someone create digital content or manage a social media account for them.
