Join Walangari Karntawarra and the award-winning Diramu Aboriginal Dance and Didgeridoo group – leaders in Aboriginal cultural entertainment and education – for an unforgettable afternoon of hands-on workshops this Australia Day.

Familiar faces at Willoughby, Walangari and members of the 2023 DanceRites-winning Diramu Aboriginal Dance will invite you to 'shake a leg' and learn a range of traditional Aboriginal dances — a joyful blend of fun, fitness and cultural connection for all ages.

Male-identifying participants can take part in the didgeridoo (didge) workshop, learning the basics of this iconic instrument using specially provided pipes – which you’ll get to keep! Both groups will come together at the end for a lively finale performance.

Creative spirit Beatrice Sailor will host traditional weaving sessions, guiding you through the art of crafting practical and beautiful pieces from sustainable, non-toxic materials. You’ll even discover how to make her famous bamboo fish traps — no hook or bait required.

Come celebrate community, creativity and Country this Australia Day in Willoughby – a day to learn, move and make something unforgettable.
