Join us at Chatswood Markets as we celebrate Bastille Day, bringing a touch of French flair, flavour and festivity to the heart of Chatswood.

Set within one of Sydney's most vibrant and multicultural communities, this special celebration reflects the rich diversity of Chatswood – where cultures from around the world come together to share food, music and traditions.

This free community event offers a wonderful opportunity to explore different cultures, discover new traditions and celebrate together.

Enjoy a lively market atmosphere filled with live music, delicious French-inspired food and fun for all ages, right here at Chatswood Markets.


5-8 pm Friday 17 July: Featured artist Donna Cain

Soprano Donna Cain trained extensively with international opera singers including Prizrenka McCray (The Netherlands), Ann Howard (UK) and Amanda Thane (Australia). Donna has a Bachelor of Music degree awarded from the University of New England; and a Bachelor of Arts (Visual Arts) from Sydney College of Advanced Education (City Art Institute). Donna has performed for festivals and events including Glebe Music Festival on three occasions, Concord Spring Fair, Campbelltown Cultural Festival and Ku-ring-gai Council’s Twilight Concert in the Park.

Donna has performed the roles of 'Queen of the Night' in the Magic Flute, Marsinah in Kismet, Mabel in The Pirates of Penzance and Siebel in Faust. Donna has been a chorus member and chorister in opera and oratorio productions here and overseas. In January 2015, Donna Cain was interviewed as a guest of 2GB, where she sang live on air for DJ Chris Smith. This was after Donna was 'discovered' while busking in Sydney and brought to the attention of 2GB by a member of the public.

Donna sings for corporate functions, weddings, and as a professional cantor in churches. She has performed a number of times as a featured artist at Chatswood Markets for Willoughby Council.

6:30 pm-8 pm Friday 17 July: Movie night – Midnight in Paris

As part of the celebrations, we are delighted to present Midnight in Paris as a special outdoor cinema experience under the stars. This themed screening is one of the highlights of the day’s festivities, inviting the community to relax and enjoy a magical evening in the heart of Chatswood.

Midnight in Paris is a charming and whimsical film that celebrates the beauty of Paris and the magic of imagination. The story follows a writer who, while visiting the city, is mysteriously transported each night to 1920s Paris, where he encounters legendary artists and writers. Blending romance, fantasy and humour, the film explores themes of nostalgia, creativity and the importance of embracing the present.

This is a free event and no registration is required – simply come along and enjoy a relaxed evening with friends, family and the wider community.

Led by renowned Sydney guitarist Cameron Jones, the trio presents a delightful blend of French jazz, gypsy swing and classic Parisian café music, inspired by the timeless sounds of Django Reinhardt. Joined by vocalist Noria and double bass, the ensemble creates an atmosphere that is both sophisticated and inviting.

From lively swing rhythms to romantic French melodies, audiences can enjoy a musical journey through the streets and cafés of France while exploring the sights, flavours and festivities of 'Chatswood Markets Celebrates Bastille Day' event.
