Prepare for a night of sultry rhythms, bold brass, and irresistible grooves as The Dan Barnett Big Band brings LATIN FIESTA to The Lounge, joined by internationally acclaimed jazz vocalist and bassist Nicki Parrott. Having toured Brazil and performed at Cuba’s Havana Jazz Festival, the band brings passion, authenticity, and fire to Australian shores. From Bossa Nova and Samba to Cha Cha, Mambo, and Merengue, the night celebrates Latin music’s vibrant tapestry. With Parrott’s smoky vocals and swinging bass, lush arrangements, and Barnett’s commanding trombone and vocals, LATIN FIESTA promises a high-energy, unforgettable Latin-jazz experience.
The concert also pays tribute to the masters who shaped Latin and Latin-jazz worldwide — from the poetic elegance of Antonio Carlos Jobim to the boundary-breaking spirit of Dizzy Gillespie, the vibrant rhythms championed by Poncho Sanchez, and the glamour of Xavier Cugat.
