Join the Willoughby Symphony Orchestra for an afternoon of fiery feathers and fantastic music in this dramatic retelling of the Russian fairytale that inspired Stravinsky’s vibrant ballet music.
Professor Dr Nicholas Milton AM invites you into a world of adventure with daring heroism, kidnapped princesses, a wicked villain and, of course, the majestic firebird itself, with its luminous feathers and remarkable powers. You’ll hear how Stravinsky uses the vivid colours and instruments of the orchestra, from menacing strings to glistening winds and blazing brass, to tell this gripping tale in music.
